A structured insomnia assessment, completed before the GP appointment.

The Challenge

In a UK cohort of 163,748 people, around 29% reported insomnia symptoms while only about 6% carried any insomnia record in primary care. A ten-minute appointment is the wrong place to take a full sleep history, so insomnia goes unassessed and comorbidities are missed.

The Opportunity

The Ipnos Pre-Appointment Assessment is a deterministic, structured pre-appointment information aid. Patients complete validated, published instruments before a booked GP appointment. The GP receives a one-page summary presenting per-instrument scores against each instrument’s own published bands. It does not diagnose, prescribe, or route. The GP interprets.

The Venture

Business Model

Annual institutional licences. NHS licences purchased at PCN or ICB level, free at the point of use for clinicians and patients, plus per-clinic licences for private sleep and primary-care providers. Land and expand from pilot practice to PCN to ICB. Pricing to be validated through first pilots.

Competition

The pre-appointment layer is empty. General practice tools such as Accurx and Ardens lack structured insomnia content. Digital therapeutics such as Sleepio and Sleepstation act after the consultation, on treatment. Ipnos sits before the appointment, delivers to the clinician rather than the patient, and structures rather than treats.

Traction

Incorporated February 2026. Three UK patent applications filed. Deterministic platform functioning on synthetic data, validated in NDA-gated sessions with two GP partners. Discovery calls in the tens across GP partners, sleep physicians and CBT-i practitioners have shaped the specification. Clinical advisory board signed. Selected for Imperial’s Venture Catalyst Challenge 2026.
