A world where continuous brain monitoring meets everyday life

The Challenge

More than 50 million people worldwide, including over 630,000 in the UK, live with epilepsy. Yet care still relies on brief hospital EEG recordings and patient-reported seizure diaries, giving clinicians limited visibility into what happens between appointments. This makes it difficult to assess treatment effectiveness, understand how the condition evolves, and make informed clinical decisions. As a result, misdiagnosis rates can reach 40%, while around one in three people continue to experience drug-resistant seizures, increasing the risk of injury, hospitalisation and SUDEP. Epilepsy costs the NHS over £2 billion annually, highlighting the need for continuous, objective monitoring outside the hospital.

The Opportunity

Epile-X is developing a platform for continuous, real-world brain monitoring beyond the clinic. By combining wearable EEG with AI-driven analysis, the venture aims to capture daily brain activity, generating longitudinal data to support improved diagnosis and more personalised treatment decisions. Over time, the system is intended to explore seizure-risk assessment, alongside a companion App designed to support day-to-day management.

The Venture

Business Model

Epile-X operates on a direct-to-consumer model. Our route to market is built on clinical trust: we partner with neurology clinics and hospitals so that when a neurologist recommends Epile-X, adoption follows naturally. As we scale, we plan to unlock a third revenue stream through anonymised data partnerships with pharmaceutical companies conducting epilepsy research.

Competition

The epilepsy monitoring market is fragmented and outdated. Most existing devices rely on motion or heart rate as a proxy for seizure activity. Epile-X is the only solution combining continuous brain activity (EEG) monitoring, 24/7 coverage, a discreet wearable form factor, and full clinical-grade data in one device.
